THE ROLE OF LISTENING COMPREHENSION IN SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Abstract

A key component of learning a second language (SLA) is listening comprehension. It gives students the crucial language input they need to improve their vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. This study looks into how listening comprehension helps English language learners acquire the language. The study investigates how listening skills affect overall language proficiency using a mixed-method approach that includes questionnaires and listening performance tasks. According to the results, students who have better listening comprehension also have better vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication skills. The study emphasizes how crucial it is to incorporate efficient listening exercises into language instruction methods in order to improve the results of second language acquisition.
