Abstract

This article analyzes the theoretical and practical foundations of the filtration process of sedimentary suspensions. The hydraulic resistance of the sediment layer formed as a result of the retention of solid particles in the suspension on the filter barrier during the filtration process, the resistance of the filter barrier, and the effect of the pressure difference on the process speed are studied. The main differential and integral equations of filtration are presented, and the dependence of sediment resistance on the mass and filter surface is mathematically expressed. Also, the effect of filtration under constant pressure, filtration under variable pressure, and sediment compressibility on the process efficiency is analyzed. The importance of filtration equations in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and other industries is shown.
