DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Digital transformation has become a key driver of change in higher education, influencing teaching, learning, research, and administrative processes. The integration of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, learning management systems, and data analytics has created new opportunities for improving educational quality, accessibility, and institutional efficiency. This study examines the challenges and opportunities associated with digital transformation in higher education through a review of relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that digital technologies support flexible and personalized learning, enhance student engagement, and improve decision-making processes within educational institutions. However, several challenges hinder successful implementation, including inadequate technological infrastructure, limited financial resources, insufficient digital skills, cybersecurity concerns, and resistance to organizational change. The study concludes that effective leadership, strategic planning, continuous professional development, and equitable access to technology are essential for achieving successful digital transformation. The results highlight the importance of adopting comprehensive digital strategies to create innovative, inclusive, and sustainable higher education systems.
