Abstract

Eco-anxiety, a growing psychological response to environmental degradation and climate change, has emerged as a critical public health concern in ecologically vulnerable regions such as Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan. The long-term ecological disaster of the Aral Sea desiccation has led to severe environmental, social, and psychological impacts, particularly among rural populations. This paper explores community-based interventions designed to mitigate eco-anxiety in Karakalpakstan by integrating psychosocial support, environmental restoration, education, and cultural resilience. Drawing from existing programs and global best practices, the paper outlines a multi-sectoral approach that includes community support circles, youth engagement, mental health integration in environmental projects, and nature-based actions. Such interventions, when tailored to local contexts and implemented through participatory frameworks, can significantly enhance community resilience and mental well-being.
