THE NEED TO TEACH TRANSLATION STUDIES AS A DISCIPLINE

Abstract

The rapid processes of globalization and the digitalization of communication have transformed translation into a central tool for cross-cultural understanding and knowledge exchange. Translation studies, as an academic discipline, addresses not only the technical aspects of language transfer but also the theoretical, cultural, and cognitive dimensions of communication. This thesis examines the necessity of institutionalizing translation studies in higher education, focusing on its role in training qualified professionals, enriching linguistic theory, supporting intercultural communication, and integrating technology into translation practice.
