This article examines the economic essence and theoretical concepts of efficient resource use within the context of sustainable development. The study provides a theoretical analysis of the scarcity of economic resources, the efficiency of their utilization, and the interrelationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability. The economic content of the concept of efficient resource use is analyzed based on the frameworks of classical and neoclassical economics, ecological economics, sustainable development, the green economy, and the circular economy. Furthermore, the study substantiates the importance of indicators such as economic output, resource consumption, energy and material intensity, and environmental load in assessing resource efficiency. The research concludes that efficient resource use in the context of sustainable development is a complex economic process that serves to enhance economic benefits while simultaneously conserving natural resources, reducing environmental pressure, and ensuring long-term economic stability.
