The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created a paradigm change within the realm of translation by transforming the field into an automated and technologically-driven one. This paper will investigate the opportunities and challenges of modern translation by examining how the collaboration of human knowledge and machine learning has transformed international communication. Applying comparative and analytical methods, this research assesses the capabilities and limitations of modern tools using Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and Large Language Models (LLMs). It can be stated that although AI has managed to address the problems of speed, cost, and scalability in translation, removing traditional obstacles and thus allowing for globalization and real-time localization of information, significant limitations still exist. Namely, automatic systems regularly struggle with complex cultural contexts, idioms, and emotions, posing the risk of data security and algorithmic biases. Overall, it can be stated that this research identifies the clear transition away from total automation to a hybrid approach in translation. Modern industry requires the usage of MTPE and HITL paradigms, where technologies maximize computational efficiency while humans preserve style, ethics, and culture.
