THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Abstract

This article examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools on English Language Teaching (ELT). It explores how technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, chatbots, automated writing evaluation tools, and speech recognition software create new opportunities for personalized learning, real-time feedback, and enhanced learner autonomy. At the same time, the paper highlights key challenges including algorithmic bias, overreliance on technology, data privacy concerns, and the digital divide. The study concludes that a balanced, critically informed approach is essential for the ethical and effective integration of AI in language education.
