Language and culture are closely interconnected, and this relationship can be observed in various linguistic phenomena, including nicknames. Nicknames are informal names used to identify individuals based on their appearance, character, occupation, or social status. They reflect cultural values, social norms, and interpersonal relationships within a speech community. This article examines the linguocultural features of nicknames in English and Uzbek languages. The study identifies common characteristics and highlights cultural differences reflected in nickname formation and usage. The findings show that while both languages use nicknames to express familiarity and social evaluation, Uzbek nicknames are more influenced by family traditions and social respect, whereas English nicknames often emphasize individuality and personal traits.Downloads
