Abstract

Historical novels have long served as mirrors of civilization, culture, and social ideology. Among the most significant elements within these literary works is the representation of women. Female images in Western and Eastern historical novels reflect not only artistic imagination but also the philosophical, moral, and political values of their societies. Although both literary traditions portray women as influential figures, the interpretation of female characters differs greatly because of cultural norms, religious beliefs, historical experiences, and literary traditions.
