Abstract

Neologisms, defined as newly coined lexical items or expressions, represent one of the most dynamic aspects of language development. In the context of modern English, the rapid expansion of technology, globalization, and digital communication has significantly accelerated the creation and dissemination of new words. This article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of neologisms by examining their formation processes, communicative functions, and sociolinguistic significance. The study applies a qualitative-descriptive and corpus-based methodology, drawing data from contemporary digital sources, academic literature, and media discourse published after 2020. The findings indicate that neologisms are systematically formed through linguistic mechanisms such as blending, compounding, affixation, borrowing, and semantic change.
