Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of teaching English through the comparative study of British and American English. It highlights the major differences between these two dominant varieties of English in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar, and discusses how these distinctions can be used as valuable teaching tools in the language classroom. The article emphasizes that exposure to both British and American English helps learners develop linguistic awareness, listening comprehension, vocabulary expansion, and intercultural competence. It also argues that integrating both varieties into English language teaching promotes communicative flexibility and prepares students for authentic interaction in international contexts. The study concludes that comparative teaching of British and American English contributes to a more practical, inclusive, and modern approach to English language education.
