This article explores the concept of longing in Uzbek and English from cognitive and cultural perspectives. The study focuses on emotional depth, metaphorical representations, and semantic structures of longing. The findings indicate that although longing is a universal human emotion, its linguistic realization reflects national mentality and cultural values. In Uzbek, longing is associated with inner burning and emotional suffering, whereas in English it is conceptualized mainly as absence and desire.
