AI-BASED TOOLS IN ENGLISH TEACHING: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Abstract

This article examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools—specifically ChatGPT, Grammarly, Elsa Speak, and Quizizz—in the process of teaching English as a foreign language. It explores the pedagogical opportunities created by AI technologies, including personalized learning, improved assessment practices, and enhanced pronunciation and writing skills. Additionally, the article highlights the challenges associated with AI integration, such as overreliance on technology, academic integrity issues, and unequal access to digital resources. The findings suggest that AI tools can significantly enrich English teaching when used in alignment with teachers’ professional expertise and pedagogical goals.
