Abstract

This article examines English idioms and their Uzbek equivalents in terms of linguistic structure, semantic meaning, and cultural background. Idioms are fixed expressions whose meanings cannot be deduced from the literal meanings of their component words. They represent a rich source of cultural and linguistic knowledge, expressing the mentality, worldview, and emotional state of a nation. The article explores the similarities and differences between English and Uzbek idioms, their historical roots, and the challenges of translating them accurately.
